Every board in this range is Aqua Protect, Elka's water-resistant laminate construction, which sets it apart from most standard laminate on the site that's only rated for occasional spills rather than genuine moisture exposure. That makes this a range worth considering specifically for kitchens, utility rooms, or anywhere splashes and spills happen more often than in a typical living room.

    Two thickness tiers

The range splits into 8mm and 12mm boards, both at 192mm wide. The 8mm tier covers colourways including Oxford Oak, Woodland Oak, Orchid Oak, Rustic Oak, Country Oak, Driftwood Oak, Honey Oak, and Pebble Oak. The 12mm tier, thicker and generally more substantial underfoot, covers Guild Oak, Thistle Oak, Misty Oak, Sunrise Oak, Barn Oak, and Toasted Oak. Because the two tiers use largely different colourway names rather than the same names at two thicknesses, deciding on thickness first will narrow the colour choice considerably.

    Colour range

Between both tiers, the colour spread runs genuinely wide, from pale, light tones like Pebble and Misty through warmer mid-browns like Honey and Rustic, to deeper, richer shades like Barn and Toasted. This gives real room to match a specific look, whether that's a bright, light kitchen floor or a warmer, more traditional tone elsewhere in the home.

    Fitting systems

Boards in this range use either the Uniclic or FitXpress click system, both proprietary fitting mechanisms designed to lock planks together tightly for a floating installation without nails, glue, or staples. A v-groove profile along the board edges gives a more defined line between planks once fitted, closer to the visual separation you'd get between individual solid wood boards than a flat, seamless laminate surface.

    FAQ

What does Aqua Protect mean on this Elka range?
It's Elka's water-resistant laminate construction, built to handle more moisture exposure than standard laminate, making it a genuine option for kitchens and utility rooms.

    What's the difference between Elka's 8mm and 12mm laminate?
Beyond the extra thickness, the two tiers use mostly different colourway names, so it's worth deciding on thickness first and then checking which colours are available in it.

What's the difference between Uniclic and FitXpress fitting systems?
Both are proprietary click systems for a floating installation without glue or nails. Which one a specific board uses depends on the individual product.
