Boen Animoso is one of the broadest ranges in the Boen collection, spanning both oak and walnut across natural and rustic grades, multiple widths and a wide choice of finishes. Every board carries a 3.5mm real wood top layer over a 14mm engineered core, giving the stability of engineered flooring without losing the texture and depth of genuine timber. Whether you want the clean, consistent grain of a natural oak board or the character of a rustic finish with visible knots and grain movement, Animoso offers enough range to suit most rooms and styles.

    Key Features

    • 3.5mm real wood top layer over a 14mm engineered core, combining authentic texture with structural stability
    • Wood species choice across Oak and Walnut, giving a wide spread of tones and price points
    • Natural and Rustic grades, letting you choose between a cleaner grain pattern or a more characterful, knot-visible look
    • Multiple plank widths — 138mm, 181mm and 209mm — to suit different room sizes
    • Wide finish range including Oiled, Live Natural Oiled, Live Pure Lacquered, Matt Lacquered and Lacquered, each altering the surface sheen
    • Compatible with underfloor heating, suiting renovated or newly built rooms
    • Sandable and refinishable, extending the floor's usable lifespan well beyond the original surface

    Grades, Species and Finishes

The Natural grade keeps the grain more consistent across boards for a calmer, more contemporary look, while the Rustic grade shows more knots and grain variation for a warmer, more traditional feel. Oak dominates the range and offers the widest choice of tones, from white and pale finishes through to deeper browns, while the walnut option brings a richer, darker character at a higher price point.

On finishes, the oiled and lacquered options behave differently underfoot: oiled finishes soak into the wood for a natural feel and easier spot-repair, while lacquered finishes seal the surface with a protective coat, with matt lacquered keeping shine to a minimum for busier rooms.

    Where Animoso Works Best

    • Larger or open-plan rooms — wider 181mm and 209mm boards make the most of bigger spaces
    • Period and character properties — the Rustic grade's visible grain suits traditional interiors
    • Contemporary homes — Natural grade oak in white or pale finishes keeps things clean and current
    • Rooms with underfloor heating — the engineered core is built to handle the gradual temperature shifts UFH produces

    FAQ

What's the difference between Natural and Rustic grades in Boen Animoso?
Natural grade has a more consistent, uniform grain pattern, while Rustic grade shows more knots and grain variation for a more characterful look.

Is walnut more expensive than oak in the Animoso range?
Yes, the walnut option sits at a notably higher price point than the oak boards, reflecting the cost and character of the timber.

Is Boen Animoso suitable for underfloor heating?
Yes. The engineered construction is designed to handle the gradual temperature changes underfloor heating produces.

Can Boen Animoso be sanded and refinished?
Yes. The 3.5mm top layer allows the floor to be sanded back and refinished multiple times over its lifespan.

Which finish gives the most natural look?
The Oiled and Live Natural Oiled finishes soak into the wood rather than sealing the surface, giving the most natural appearance and making small marks easier to spot-repair.
